As the Pittsburgh Pirates season comes to a close, ending on a 4-road-game series against Nation League powerhouse Washington Nationals, many questions surround the Pirates Organization. One being, “is this the end of Andrew McCutchen?”. Simply put, in which many Pirates fans feel, this isn’t the end for Mr. Clutch and his lasting legend for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Many feel he’ll retain his spot in the black and yellow and finish out his career with the team that selected him eleventh overall in the 2005 MLB First Year Player Amateur Draft. After making his debut appearance for the Pirates on June 4th, 2009, McCutchen has been a constant for the Pirates in Center Field, up until 2017 where he made the respective change to Right Field. Being recognized in the earlier portion of his stardom career, selected as a 5x-All Star (2011-2015), the NL MVP in 2013, a 4x-Silver Slugger Award winner, as well receiving the Gold Glove Award in 2012 to go along with a Roberto Clemente Award in 2015. After representing the Pirates to the highest pedigree of respect, gratitude and personification to being a Pirates great, McCutchen (stat-wise) hasn’t been hot as of the past couple years. Trade rumors circulated for many months as this looked to maybe have been the end to what was a resilient career. An example of one trade rumor was, “are the Pirates going to trade McCutchen along with a few prospects to garner the likes of Jose Quintana from the White Sox?” Thankfully that didn’t happen, as many Pirates fans rejoiced and would love to see the man, the myth and the legend retire here in the Steel City, and maybe someday, retired number 22 for all he’s represented. We here at Vegas Sports Daily would love to see McCutchen stick it out and play for the Pittsburgh Pirates as his career starts to dwindle into the twilight. We’d like to give a huge thank you and have the utmost respect for “the” decision you’ll have to make come the offseason, Bucco Nation is proud to have watched you over the years and would love to continue to watch your career play out.
