Can’t Knock the Hustle: The Washington Wizards continue to surpass expectations and earn their third straight win

Before diving into last nights game between the Washington Wizards and the Cleveland Cavaliers I’d like to call for a moment of silence.

Why, you ask?

Well, I’d like to take some time to recognize the trash talkers. The sports analysts who predicted the team would self destruct. The reporters who accused John Wall of being out of shape and unable to drive the ball to the net. The self proclaimed subject matter experts who said Dwight Howard wasn’t worth his contract- well, actually the jury is still out on that one, but that’s neither here nor there.

Despite the influx of harsh criticism the team has received over the last few weeks, the Washington Wizards seem to have found the chemistry they were so noticeably lacking in the early part of the season.

The team claimed their third straight win last night in a  head-to-head matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a final score of 119-95.

Some were quick to say that last night’s game was a gift considering the Cavaliers lost Lebron to the Lakers and Tristan to the Kardashians- you were thinking it. This win however, was an impressive feat nonetheless seeing as how the Wizards have lost to the Cavaliers in four consecutive home games.

And while John Wall was noticeably not as dangerous on the court as he has
been in the last two games, I appreciated last night for reintroducing Bradley Beal as the rightful second in command. Beal earned a total of 20 points, 3 assists, and three rebounds last night with Otto Porter Jr., who might I add seemed to finally have his head in the game, trailing closely behind with 15 points, 3 assists, and 4 rebounds.

I’ve always been the type to speak things into existence, and given the seemingly abrupt turnaround this team has made since their disappointing defeat to the Orlando Magic last Friday, I’m feeling a successful second half of the season on the horizon.
