Las Vegas, NV – Each of the principle combatants scheduled to clash in the main event of Saturday’s highly-anticipated FOX pay-per-view fight card from the MGM Grand on Wednesday promised an action-packed performance for the fans, as both WBA Super Champion Keith Thurman (29-0, 22 Kos) and the iconic fighting Senator from the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao assured fight fans that they would not walk away disappointed.
The matchup pitting the fight game’s first-ever eight-division world champion in the 40-year-old Pacquiao (who holds an impressive career record of 61-7-2 with 39 wins coming via knockout) against the current WBA (and former WBC) undefeated champion at 147-pounds has all the intriguing earmarks of a truly captivating fight. Most noticeable is the age difference between the two fighters, as the 30-year-old Thurman will look to exploit the ten-year disparity between the two pugilists.
The opposite side of that coin is the extensive experience that the fighting Filipino dynamo brings with him into the ring. Thurman and his camp have confidently voiced their opinion that the man nicknamed “One-Time” will be able to nullify any perceived advantages with his own, namely in the speed, power and youth categories.
The entire card is literally stacked with an incredible card on free TV featuring IBF super middleweight maven Caleb Plant defending his title against former football player Mike Lee, as well as fast-rising heavyweight knockout artist Efe Ajagba from Houston by way of Nigeria serving as the lead-in to the pay-per-view card. Speaking of which, the undercard on the actual FOX PPV fight card is absolutely stacked with very intriguing matchups as WBC Silver Bantamweight champion Luis Nery takes on tough Dominican Juan Carlos Payano, Sergey “The Samurai” Lipinets locks horns with John Molina Jr. and in the chief support of the main event, Omar Figueroa Jr takes on veteran Cuban pugilist Yordenis Ugas of Cuba.
Whatever happens, fight fans can be assured they will be treated to an action-packed night of world-class boxing.
