London– UFC fighters’ Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards won their fights in the octagon, but during Masvidal’s live interview backstage, Leon had some words that angered Masvidal. Masvidal stopped the interview, walked up to Leon, and address the issues with a couple of punches that were thrown at Leon.
A couple of punches hit Leon’s face, which left Leon bleeding a little bit. After both fighters were restrained and Leon’s team removed Leon from the backstage area, Masvidal addressed what happened.
“I had my hands back to signal I’m not coming here with problems,” said Masvidal, per ESPN. “But he put his hands up — it’s on video — and walks towards me. Well, where I’m from, you do that, you’re going to punch me in the face. And that’s not going to happen.”
“I was scared … It might not have looked like it, because I’m cold-blooded, but I was scared out of my life.’This hooligan is here and is going to assault me.’ He shouldn’t have done that and walked towards me like he was going to punch me. I got the first one in. Am I going to be in trouble because I got the first one in?”
The backstage brawl had everyone scratching their heads, attempting to figure out why did it happen. UFC president Dana White was extremely upset at the fighters for this brawl and had this to say about it. “I can’t even believe that this happened. We need to do a much better job of making sure this (expletive) doesn’t happen at any of our events.
As of right now, local police are investigating the matter.
Take a look at the clip of the brawl.
