The Raiders have sent the seven-year veteran offensive guard, Kelechi Osemele to the New York Jets along with a 2019 sixth round pick in exchange for the Jets 2019 fifth-round pick.
Raiders have an agreement in principle to trade G Kelechi Osemele to the NY Jets, sources tell @josinaanderson and me. Trade cannot be processed until Weds, but two sides have agreement in place. Another Raiders’ trade.

Osemele is one of the best blocking guards in the NFL, but faced a multitude of injuries in his 2018 season with the Raiders. He missed a total of five games in 2018, which left a huge whole on the Raiders unexperienced offensive line. Derek Carr was sacked a career high 51 times in 2018, mostly because the Raiders were having to plug holes week in and week out with a banged up offensive line.
Osemele was a big part of the Raiders offensive unit when healthy over the last three seasons. Osemele was selected to 2 pro bowls and 1 all-pro team during his three-year stint with the Raiders.
In 2015 Osemele signed a mega 5-year contract worth $58.5 million with the Raiders. Osemele is a casualty of freeing up cap space with his production taking a small decline and having a large contract on the books. He’s due $10.2 million this season and $11.7 million next season. This move free’s up more money for the Raiders to spend out on the open market when free agency starts up.
The Raiders may be a serious contender for drafting an offensive guard with one of their first round selections in the draft. Their offensive line currently sets up as, Kolten Miller (LT), Denzelle Good (LG), Rodney Hudson (C), Gabe Jackson (RG), Donald Penn (RT).
Last year Jon Gruden was aggressive drafting two offensive lineman within the first three rounds, including Kolten Miller with his first-round pick.
