For a few (very quick) moments, Allegiant Stadium shines bright in a fully rendered trailer for Madden NFL 21.
The $1.84 billion stadium is lit up at night, just off the Las Vegas strip, and you can see clearly through the hole in the roof at the painted Raiders logos and green grass.
Construction began on November 13, 2017, and the 65,000-seat stadium is scheduled to be completed this summer, just in time for a scheduled Garth Brooks concert to officially open the stadium on August 22 and the team’s first pre-season game on August 27. Whether that game, or the concert, will have live fans in attendance is another question, all thanks to the coronavirus global pandemic.
A few months ago, after the official close of the 2019 NFL season, the Raiders began to formally call themselves the “Las Vegas Raiders” but it still didn’t quite feel real to most fans. The inclusion in the highly-touted video games’ trailer brings it that much closer to a realization.
The game trailer itself focuses on a new generation of NFL stars, namely reigning NFL MVP Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens, who also landed the coveted spot on the video games cover.
Without a doubt, 2020 has been one of the strangest years on record, but it seems a fitting time to turn the page to a fresh new chapter.
The NFL with a fresh crop of new stars, and the Las Vegas Raiders with a brand new, shiny stadium, ready and ripe for all the concerts and games the Entertainment Capital of the World can throw at it.
