Dallas Wings Fall To A Balanced Indiana Fever Team

Dallas WIngs

The Dallas Wings continue their hot and cold play with a 76-56 point loss to the Indiana Fever. The Fever move to 3-0 against the Wings and they’re winning by an average of 13 points. Indiana has found Dallas Kryptonite and used it to their advantage.

Slow and steady wins the race (Usually)

Dallas came to play but much slower version of their normally fast-paced offense. Their offensive sets were slow to come by many taking 10 seconds for the ball to move into a comfortable scoring position. What’s worse several of their possessions ended in a shot clock violation.
The Fever’s defense has been the Wings kryptonite all season, but it was truly troubling Friday night. On top of stripping them of their energetic play, they help them to less than 20% shooting from three.

Tierra McCowan is a problem

The Fever’s 6-7 rookie gave more than they could handle in Friday’s game. McCowan finished the night with a near double-double and 3 blocks. McCowan dominated the boards against the 6-5 Theresa Plaisance and 6-7 Imani McGee-Stafford. Plaisance has been on a rebounding tear averaging 9 rebounds over the last three games. McGee-Stafford is a defensive stalwart playing a big part in holding the Phoenix Mercury’s Star forwards to 5-25 from the field. She looks like a completely different player than the one Dallas faced the previous 2 games.
She’s greatly improved over each game and it’s caught Coach Brian Agler’s eye. “She’s a good reserve down low. Mostly just finishes and putbacks and rebound obviously. So I know they have to be happy with the way she’s progressing,” Agler says about McCowan.
McCowan’s progress is evident in her playing time. In their first matchup, she was limited to 10 minutes, the next 16 minutes, in their latest matchup she played 21 minutes. She’s gaining trust from her coaches and showing enormous potential.
