Top Rank boxing has currently been restarted under new safety guidelines in Las Vegas, including having no fans present at the fights. While that sucks for some fans, Top Rank has also started to release some of their fights for free online for consumption.
This includes this 2019 bout between English heavyweight titlist Tyson Fury (30-0-1; 21 KOs) and Tom Schwarz (26-1; 18 KOs) out of Germany.
Coming into this fight, Fury was fresh off an incredibly controversial draw with “The Bronze Bomber” Deontay Wilder in December 2018. Fury was angry and chomping at the bit to face Wilder once again, but would have to wait until the next year before he got another showdown with the American knockout artist, who he would go on to school and defeat via TKO in their highly anticipated rematch.
Schwarz, on the other hand, was undefeated at 24-0, but had faced no one near the level of Fury up until that point.
In the end, the difference in experience and skill was painfully obvious to anyone with a pulse once the actual fight began with Fury battering and pummeling the big German in tune to a TKO victory in the second round at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The real fun would come later that same year when Fury would face off against little known Otto Wallin from Sweden, who gave the champion a true test, and who would damage Fury badly with a deep gash over his right eye. This caused many to question how it would hold up against the wild swinging Wilder.
We know now that it mattered little in the end, but it was a fun build up to an incredibly fun fight.
