“Canelo has the skills to beat anybody.” -Roy Jones Jr.
Last week I had the opportunity to speak with boxing legend Roy Jones Jr., I asked him his thoughts on the rumors of Canelo moving up to fight Sergey Kovalev if he can beat Daniel Jacobs. His response was “Canelo has the skills to beat anybody, it’s about how he takes Kovalev’s punch.”
Jones also went on to explain how his skills gave him the ability to move up from middleweight all the way up to heavyweight.
When asked about his thoughts on who will win the fight between Alvarez and Jacobs, Jones express that the fighter who can implement their game plan the best will win this fight.
He explained what both fighters should do to win this fight “If Canelo can stay close and have his way he will win the fight but if Jacobs can have his way and stay outside, box him and be smarter then Jacobs can win the fight.”
Jones most importantly indicated that both of these fighters can win this fight, it’s just who can implement their game plan early on will control the fight.
All in all Jones is giving both fighters a chance to win this fight and he wouldn’t give us an answer on who he had winning the fight but like the rest of the world on Saturday night he will be watching.
The fight between Canelo Alvarez vs. Daniel Jacobs will happen May 4th on DAZN in Las Vegas at the T-mobile Arena for the IBF and WBC middleweight title also, WBA super middleweight title.
