Soccer team accused of using sex dolls as ‘fans’

A South Korean soccer team has been accused of using sex dolls to simulate fans in a recent match.

According to the Associated Press story by Kim Tong-Hyung, the FC Seoul maintains that it used mannequins, not sex dolls, to mirror home crowd fans in an empty stadium on Sunday for its 1-0 victory over Gwangju FC at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.

The team says it was attempting to add “an element of fun” by adding the mannequins, and that the company that supplied the mannequins assured them that they were not used in a sexual nature, but the company did reuse some of the products previously supplied to another company.

The soccer club did not directly comment on why all of the mannequins used were female in design.

The coronavirus pandemic has forced sports leagues around the world to get creative while opening stadiums back up under strict orders to maintain social distancing guidelines which currently involve keeping fans away from organized sporting events.

The K-League, the federation under which the two team compete, resumed play on May 8 without fans and with no measures in place that forbid teams from excessive goal celebrations, hand shakes, spitting or talking to closely with other players on the field.
