Will Marshawn Lynch Play Another Season in Oakland?

Photo by Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Marshawn Lynch came out of retirement back in 2017 with a vision to play for the city that raised him. Lynch wanted to come back and play for the city of Oakland before they are without a football team, as the Raiders are expected to be in Las Vegas by 2020.

Now that the Raiders have reached an agreement with the Oakland Alameda Coliseum officials for the 2019 season, Lynch may now be back in play to return as the Raiders featured running back. Although, the former all-pro running back hasn’t given the Raiders any indication on what his future entails looking ahead to the 2019 season. Many speculate Lynch’s return back on the field in Oakland including NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

The Raiders currently have a hole at the running back position with their top three running backs all becoming free agents this offseason (Marshawn Lynch, Doug Martin, Jalen Richard). Gruden has mentioned last season how he loves Lynch’s physicality that he plays with, running downhill in between the tackles.

Last season Lynch played in six games, rushing for 376-yards and three touchdowns. His season was cut short due to a groin injury, which then led to Lynch going on injured reserve. Lynch didn’t play much in 2018, but he was effective when healthy. He averaged 4.2-yards per carry over his 90 rushing attempts.

Lynch might not be the bell cow running back he once was during his days in Seattle, but he still brings quality rushing attempts out of the backfield. Also, another great aspect of Lynch’s ability is how difficult he is for opposing teams to tackle.
